Our public library is the oldest in our county — it’s past time to redevelop it to fit the needs of the 21st century

We should be able to host story times for kids and provide high-speed internet for students without the aging infrastructure dragging us behind.

I will prioritize the safety of our streets

We’ve had 37 pedestrian injuries since 2011, including 3 killed. It’s crucial that we design our roads to put safety first. Cities like Gothenburg, Sweden and even Oxnard, California have zero traffic deaths, and they accomplished this simply by redesigning their streets. There’s no reason why Pinole can’t adopt these life-saving measures.

Parents shouldn’t fear about the safety of their kids when sending them to school

We’ve had too many bicycle accidents in Pinole, some of them fatal. We need to build protected bike lanes to ensure the safety of both drivers and bikers. Studies have shown that putting physical barriers that separate car and bike lanes protects lives. Drivers shouldn’t fear hitting a biker, and bikers shouldn’t fear getting struck.

Pinole should be a leader in climate innovation

We can start by expanding electric vehicle (EV) charging stations across the city, invest in renewable and resilient clean energy sources, and helping businesses access eco-friendly alternatives to single-use plastics. Additionally, we should install solar panels on all public facilities, which will save taxpayer money on operating costs.

We should focus on crime prevention

The safety and well-being of Pinoleans is my top priority. As Councilmember, I will partner with law enforcement to ensure that our city is focusing on proactive crime prevention. This includes officer outreach to the community and incentivizing the hire of Pinole residents, who know our city well, to the Pinole Police Department.

We need to end gun violence

Gun violence in our country has been all too common — it shouldn’t be. I commit to instituting policies that prevent such tragedies. On the City Council, I will promote safe gun storage and partner with law enforcement to educate Pinoleans about California’s Red Flag Laws. As the only Moms Demand Action Gun Sense Candidate in this race, I will champion these critical policies to create a safer Pinole.

Pinoleans are right to demand justice for crime victims

Especially for violent crimes like domestic violence and hate crimes, the City Council should deploy personnel to connect victims to support services like healthcare, and housing.

We should care for the physical well-being of our police officers

As the grandson of a veteran, I understand the toll the service takes on someone all too well. Our officers see and witness things that are painful and traumatizing. As such, it’s the responsibility of the City Council to provide support to them, especially mental health care access.

We need to open Fire Station 74 to ensure that every part of our city has quick and equitable access to the fire department

Considering the rise of wildfires in our state, we have to hasten the deployment of our first responders.

Our small businesses are the backbone of our city

Not only are they the lifeblood of our local economy, they are community centers where we gather and connect. Our City Council should support our small businesses by expanding their reach, especially on city-run social media, and centering them on our tourism strategy.

We should make downtown more vibrant

By implementing string lighting, building more walkable streets, beautifying it more plants and greenery among other, we can revitalize the city we all know and love.

Encouraging more entrepreneurs should be a priority of the city

We are home to so much talent. By cutting red tape to starting businesses, we can increase business startups in our city. We can start by digitizing our business license applications, establishing clear timelines, and improving our translation services for our immigrant entrepreneurs.

We should attract more tourists to Old Town Pinole

Our beautiful city should be on display for the world to see. By investing in our tourism efforts, Pinole can be appreciated by all, while energizing our local economy.
